III Moscow International Neurosurgical Forum is scheduled for 23-29 November 2009 in the Burdenko Institute of Neurosurgery, Moscow, Russia. It includes 3 separate scientific events:
- 23-25 November - Joined Courses on Paediatric neurosurgery of ISPN and RSPN (International and Russian Socities for Paediatric neurosurgery)
- 26-27 November – Conference "Neurosurgery and Neuroendocrinology"
- 28-29 November – Annual European Conference on Radiosurgery and Gamma-Knife
Joined Courses on Paediatric neurosurgery. In accordance with the program of RSPN pediatric neurosurgery courses we organize annual neurosurgical educational courses for Russian pediatric neurosurgeons. Pediatric neurosurgeons from neighboring countries (Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belorussia, Uzbekistan and others) participate in our courses as well. The previous Course (2008) was devoted to Hydrocephalus. This year we plan to organize the course dedicated to the management of congenital malformations and some perinatal diseases. During two next years - 2010 and 2011 we plan to cover the pediatric neurooncology and neurotraumatology accordingly. Then the cycle should repeat. On the 1st day we plan to discuss problems of reconstructive surgery of congenital craniofacial and skull malformations (craniosynostosis, craniofacial dysostosis, hypertelorism etc). The first half of the day will be devoted to the lectures and the second part (after lunch) – to the practical course (hands-on seminar). The 2nd day may be dedicated to spinal malformations like Spina bifida, tethered cord syndrome and others. Again the evening practical course. The 3rd day – functional pediatric neurosurgery (management of cerebral palsy, surgical and rehabilitation aspects). This day may have a reduced educational program followed by the afternoon Social events. We plan to invite Russian and foreigh professors, each of them is an expert in his field. We are going to prepare different lectures devoted to genetics, prenatal diagnostics, clinical manifestations, radiological findings, surgical treatment and rehabilitation of patients with different congenital diseases. Practical seminar will be based on 5-6 places equipped with plastic 3D models of sculls with different forms of craniosynostosis, electric or pneumatic craniotomes and different materials for cranioplastics.
The Conference "Neurosurgery and Neuroendocrinology" will focus on expert opinion of the leading neurosurgeons and endocrinologists and cover the main topics in the surgical treatment and irradiation of scull base tumors (craniopharyngioma, pituitary adenoma, chiasmatic glioma). All the states assosiated with this pathology, such as hypopituitarism, diabetes insipidus, precocious puberty, Cushing syndrome, acromegaly ets will be discussed as well.
